Hey! Look here! I just had the good luck to work for a bunch of general managers and managers — and an assortment of other leaders — from this organization that serves about 2,000 meals a day. (Per restaurant.)
It’s impressive. I was totally taken with their drive, creativity and plain old zest for success. It was a very fun, hard working group of people that needed a laugh, and some ideas about motivating themselves AND their teams.
Guess what? They seemed to like me as much as I liked them. Aw shucks!
Check out what they had to say.

Is Your Motivational Speaker Any Good?
Clients call our office every day — which is very cool — trying to determine if I’m the right motivational speaker for them and their organization. There are a ton of great questions to ask any perspective professional speaker. But in the end, my best advice is this: It comes down to a) the video and b) testimonials.
Are there TONS of people willing to vouch for your speakers? Is your potential motivational speaker boasting a long — VERY long — client list?
And is your speaker captured regularly on video? Are there testimonial videos? Check your speaker’s YouTube Channel to verify that your speaker isn’t stagnant.
I thought the program went really well.… The audience came along nicely, the reviews were terrific, the valuations were flattering. But when I turned my camera onto my meeting planner he was kind enough to raise as well.

I just got the nicest comment back from one of my very recent clients. Any of you who have been following me know that I feel very strongly about the power of happiness to improve and increase our bottom lines. But happiness is a devilish thing to measure when it comes to connecting it to anything financial.
But check out this amazing quote from my friend and client Larry at Farm Bureau Financial.
How cool is that!?
“I attribute Brad’s humorous keynote was the ignition point for our 2012 fourth quarter turn around, and incredible first quarter success this year. We are green on all goals, and still laughing. Don’t mistake his program for fluff. He was side-splitting funny; But way more importantly he helped us EXCEED our difficult financial goals. You can’t afford not to work with Brad”
— Larry Riley, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Kansas
If you are looking for a motivational speaker who can speak to happiness and how it improves your bottom line give us a call. And if, like Larry, you are interested in knocking your financials out of the park. Give us a call quickly.

As a motivational speaker I speak before hundreds or thousands of people every month. I love my job and feel very lucky to be part of that much laughter.
One of the best side effects of my job is that it is nearly impossible to tell other people to lighten up, be happy, and use levity and humor as a tool, and not have some of that spin back to me. For example, can you imagine telling thousands of people to lighten up and take themselves less seriously, and then yelling at the flight attendant? Neither can I, so I never do, and that’s part of what I love about my job. I’m a professional Nice Guy!
Every now and then, I get a very special gift. I receive a letter from somebody in my audience. I suspect it is like the elementary school teacher who wonders if he or she makes any difference at all, and then some lanky 16 year old kid comes back to say thanks for inspiring him to read or to investigate fossils, or some other important nugget.
The elementary school teacher probably just melts in her shoes. What a gift! A simple thank you.
Such was the case when I got this amazing letter from someone who was part of a company I worked for in Texas. This company was so unusual, so purposeful in their pursuit of ways to make work fun and interesting. Generally my job is to help companies or organizations see the importance of happiness and fun at work, and how that happiness can directly relate to better bottom line results. But in this case I was preaching to the choir. This was a company filled with people who already knew how to have fun at work. They had it down! It might sound trite or cliché but I learned as much from them as they learned from me. It was an honor.
Here’s the letter. It made me feel good and very happy to receive.
Hi Brad,
Im sure you get this all the time but from what I could tell of your personality Im sure it never gets old for you so….
I just wanted to say Thank You for coming to talk to us and let you know how much not only I, but our entire company, enjoyed your presentation. I can walk down the hallway and still hear people talking about it and laughing. You have given us a sense of rejuvenation by showing us how to accept happiness in our work and it has already started to translate into a healthier environment. You have been given a gift, and I wish the very best for you in your business and life endeavors, because I know now how much joy you can bring to peoples’ lives. Take care and I hope we meet again sometime down the road. If nothing else, at least you have over a hundred new friends that can help you if you ever need an AC Drive–HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Johnnie, you absolutely made my day. Thanks for taking time out of your life to lift other people up – in this case me.
And that’s my point: Johnnie is a good role model. Who can you compliment or thank today that will make them feel as good as Johnnie made me feel? Thankfulness is a powerful tool and an awesome motivator. It works on both the giver and the receiver.
So share some thankfulness and motivation today. Start what I call a Joy Loop, and get back as much good feelings as you give. It worked for me!
If you or your organization needs a boost and a reminder about the power of happiness at work, or is looking for a funny motivational speaker who can both motivate and entertain. I hope you’ll give us a call.
Here’s a short video clip of the flash mob we did with Johnnie and his organization there in Texas. Can you believe we did a flash mob for a corporate outing? Look at their faces and tell me you don’t want that for your group. :-)

I love being a speaker. But sometimes being a Colorado speaker is exactly what the doctor orders. No trip through Denver International, I get to hve dinner with my wife and kids, and best of all, I learn from some of the coolest local foks my home state has to offer.
Check out this recent video of a program I did from some cool government folks up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains:
httpv://youtu.be/aoum4UVBZpI
For you folks who prefer to read, here’s the transcript to the video:
We often forget to laugh. We are overstressed and sometimes you are in that cycle where you are going, “I have so much to do. I can’t meet all the community demands” and this recognizes that we really do accomplish an enormous amount every day and it’s because of our kind hearts, our dedicated team and Brad helped elevate that energy and reminds us to laugh throughout the day, to recognize that we have a choice in the happiness and gave us some trigger points that we can institute this into our culture.
Hey it’s Brad Montgomery from BradMontgomery.com. I just was a motivational speaker for Eagle County, Colorado for the Health & Human Services. Oh, it was a blast; really great people doing hard work. They are underappreciated. They are overworked, they are under everything yet they’ve got one of the most important jobs in their county and it was just an absolute pleasure to be part of their team. Actually the feedback was pretty good so check it out. Thanks.
Brad Montgomery – A Humorist and Motivational Speaker Who Will Bring Laughter To Your Organization
“For this meeting we brought in Brad Montgomery, a humorist and motivational speaker. He made us laugh, he made us recognize the great work that we do every day that serves our community at large and gave thanks to our great team members for their passion, excitement, dedication and commitment to community. I encourage all government agencies, especially Health & Human Services with the demanding stress loads and diminishing resources to bring Brad Montgomery in to really help raise the energy, remind us to laugh and recognize the great work that our team does every day.”

Yippee! Nothing warms the heart like letters from happy clients. I was a motivational speaker in California recently, and received this REALLY nice letter from my clients. Aw Shucks! I’m proud to say that a HUGE portion of work comes from word-of-worth from past clients. I’m proud of that fact.
Here’s the letter…thanks again Christina!
Brad,
I wanted to write and thank you once again for coming out to Los Angeles last week to speak to our guests.
As we discussed, our industry, like many others, has been hard hit by the economy. We struggle each day to hit targets trying to sell a product that many people just cannot afford. Our organization is made up of a variety of individuals from various companies and although each of us faces different struggles each day, you somehow managed to touch each person in that room in one way or another. You had everyone laughing and still managed to get a very important point across.
I know I personally left with one very clear goal: find my “how cool is that” moments each and every day. I am proud to say that I am doing just that. You really have made a difference in not only my outlook, but others as well. The day after you spoke at our meeting, several attendees emailed me just to tell me that they left that room feeling 110% better than when they walked in. Another individual said that for one hour, we were able to get away from our desks and really sit and enjoy each other’s company, realize are lives really aren’t that bad, and listen to a truly outstanding speaker.
CAIP holds an event like this each year, but generally we choose industry related individuals to speak on very dry, mundane topics. Although truly educational, people generally really only attend because they earn CE credits (we need them to maintain a license to do what we do…technical mumbo jumbo). This was the first year people walked out with a smile, thanked us for putting on such a great event, and stated that they were looking forward to next year. THIS WAS A FIRST! And I know it was because of you; for that, we thank you.
Brad, it was a pleasure working with you and your staff. I truly hope that we will meet again at another event in which you have once again been asked to put a smile on our faces, which I know you will succeed at doing!
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
C. Findley CAIP

I recently worked for a very kind man for the second time. The first time, he hired me to speak for a government agency. He has since left the government, and hired me to speak to his new company, n~ask Incorporated.
Being hired once is nice. But being hired back is MORE than twice as nice. It’s bad math. But it’s true.
The first time I was in a hotel ballroom in Virginia, doing my funny motivational speaker thing for a huge government audience. But this more recent speaking engagement was in Florida for a very small (but mighty) group in a restaurant. By the time I started speaking, it was pushing 9:30 PM, the group had had more than a couple of cocktails, and they had been sitting through a long gourmet dinner.
But happily, it went well. In fact, it was a blast.
Check out the kind letter I just got from my client:
TO: Brad Montgomery
SUBJECT: Speaker Services
Brad –
On behalf of n-ask Incorporated I would like to sincerely thank you for superb presentation during our 10th Anniversary event. In true Brad fashion, you adopted our message, created the appropriate theme that struck the right chord with our group. Your adept blend of humor, coupled with the desired “thought take-away” was a huge success. Your skill at managing the toughest of crowds, and leading them to the possibilities of the future is exactly what our team needed.
As was proven when I engaged your services for my previous employer (Central Intelligence Agency), your ability to pinpoint and deliver the right message to a diverse workforce made all the difference. Although our group was smaller than the 1000+ you addressed at CIA, you adapted a concise presentation tailored to our “unique” needs and corporate structure. The tailored presentation you developed for n-ask, had our attendees feeling you were literally a part of our team with an intimate understanding of our current challenges. Accordingly, your approach insured our team’s acceptance of the message and solutions. One manager noted, “How does he know us and our unique challenges so well.” Another pointed out – “It felt personal to us, and not some outsider coming in with a fad of the moment speech.”
Again, our sincere appreciation for your time in assisting our staff in recognizing that change is not to be feared; and humor in the face of challenge is a trait to aspire to. All in attendance left with a new perspective on our corporate goals and their role in our collective success. We look forward to you working with us in the future as we continue down our path.
Sincerely,
JH Vice President, n~ask Incorporated
Yippee. I had fun too, but it is wildly cool (I know, it isn’t a corporate term, but it accurately describes it) to get amazing letters like this one from JH.

Your Motivational Speaker Sucks
Seriously. How do you know if the motivational speaker you’re considering for your huge conference or event is any good?
The Chris Farley “Down by the River” horrible motivational speaker skits were hilarious… but sometimes it isn’t funny. There ARE some horrible motivational speakers out there. And there are way MORE mediocre speakers.
How do you make sure that — for your meeting or convention — you not only have a decent speaker… you have an excellent one? The answer is simple: do your homework.
If I were hiring a professional speaker, I’d want to have some serious references and referrals. I’m proud of mine…check out this video from a huge tech company I worked for recently:
Aw Shucks!

Let’s face it: corporate meeting and convention audiences are filled with multi-taskers. A short time go, our greatest distraction as meeting planners and speakers was USATODAY. Now it’s the fact that there is free wireless in every ballroom, smart phones, and USATODAY.
That’s why this short email from Re/Max international made my day. (I worked for them at their Colorado headquarters recently.) It is absolutely current, and made me feel like a million bucks. Aw Shucks Re/Max!
Brad, One of our executives came up to me yesterday afternoon and said – “Ya know, I judge speakers by the amount of times I look at my iPhone while they’re talking. I did not look once – thanks for bringing Brad in, he was a great speaker and the timing was perfect – really enjoyed it”.
We’ve had lots of positive comments and in my HR meeting today with other HR Executives I will gladly tout you and your message. Thank you so much!!
