What a welcome relief from tragedy!! Our heart felt gratitude goes out to Brad Montgomery for his participation in our opening school institute on August 20, 2007. His presentation was outstanding. We were in the midst of a tragedy relating to the Crandall Canyon Mine disaster in which 6 of our local coal miners were trapped and three miners gave their lives in a rescue attempt. We had real reservations about how our opening of school would feel to out students and teachers. Brad also expressed concern about doing a comedy and magic routine amidst such stress and sadness. As we came together, however, Brad was able to express sentiments of concern and at the same time provide us with a brief and well needed separation from the tragedy we were experiencing. Brad was able to lift our spirits and give an hour of focus on the cool  things that life has to offer. When we invited Brad to come, it was our hope that he would inspire our teachers and administrators to learn ways to enjoy life and to be the best they can be each day as they face the students in their classrooms. Brad hit the target!! Brad's motivational humor helped us to find some sense of relief. We firmly believe that our teachers and administrators were strengthened by Brad s presentation. We believe they entered their classrooms and schools on that first day of school a little happier and better prepared to meet the needs of their students. Thanks Again!!
